Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) are mental health professionals trained in psychotherapy and family systems, In Florida they are licensed and regulated by the Florida Department of Health. LMFTs have graduate training (a Master's or Doctoral degree) in marriage and family therapy and at least two years of clinical experience, and are trained to diagnose, evaluate, and treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of marriage, couples and family systems. They can help with issues stemming from relationship conflicts, depression, addiction, sexuality and gender identity, as well as child behavior concerns.

Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC) work with individuals, with couples or families, or in group sessions of people with similar problems. LMHC have graduate training that includes course work on human development, psychopathology, counseling and personality theories, sexuality, substance abuse, group work, career counseling, and assessment.
